Peruvian Hairless Dog, Peru

Here is a picture of the Peruvian hairless dog I saw in Trujillo, Peru.

I had read about them previously but I was still a bit shocked when I saw the first one. Doesn’t it look like it’s just survived an inferno or something?

 

This ‘naked’ dog doesn’t suffer from cold for it lives in Trujillo where it’s warm and dry, but it suffers from premature ageing on its forehead.

I was soon fond of this gentle friendly creature happily running around at the Huaca Arco Iris ruin, which is one of several interesting archaeological sites (e.g. Chan Chan) in the area from the Chimu and Moche civilisations.
