I was having trouble with inserting pictures already uploaded in Picasa Web Albums into WordPress.com posts. But I’ve found a solution.
![]()
Problem occurred when I took the following steps:
1. I selected ‘Add an Image’ button from ‘Upload/Insert’ in my WordPress post.
2. I selected ‘From URL’ tab.
3. I copied the picture’s Link from ‘Link to this Photo’ in Picasa Web Albums.
4. I pasted it into the ‘Image URL’ box in WordPress.
5. A red cross appeared next to the ‘Image URL’ box, which meant WordPress didn’t like what I was doing for some reason, and the ‘Insert into Post’ button at the bottom was not possible to be clicked on.
Solution
(This applies to Windows XP)
Instead of Step 3 above, right-click on the picture > select ‘Copy Image Location’ > paste it into the ‘Image URL’ box in WordPress.

1. Get Picasa.
Click the following link if you do not have Picasa. Picasa is a photo organizer software that allows you to upload photos from your PC to the web.
2. Use Picasa to upload some pictures from your PC.
Open Picasa on your PC and sign in to your Web Album:
Picasa will scan for pictures on your PC. You can then upload your pictures from your PC to your Web Album:
Add the selected pictures into the Web Album. Make sure that the pictures are uploaded to your public Web Album:
Photos have been uploaded, and are ready to be added into your ForumCircle posts:
3. Create a new post in your ForumCircle forum. You can now insert pictures from your Picasa web pictures.
4. Post a new topic or reply to an existing topic. Click on the My Web Album button:
5. Enter the username of your Picasa web album. You will see a list of your public albums:
6. Select the picture you want to include in your post and click ‘Insert Picture’:
7. You will see the image code inserted for you. Click preview to preview the post before submitting:
8. This is what it will look like in the post:
[...] much thanks to RoundPicture’s post on how to solve the problem with inserting pictures from Picasa Web Album. [...]
Hmm, I’ve been having disappearing photos, too. And so has my sister. I’ve tried the “copy image url” work-around. I thought it was working, but pictures still disappear after a few minutes. My sister tried hosting pics at flickr, but that made no difference…so it must be a wordpress thing?
Hi Lili,
I’ve just tested the steps again and it works fine.
Are you following the steps exactly?
Does your image URL look something like this when you right-click copy?
